Jabin is my mother’s twist on an ancient Persian beverage recipe. It is an apple cider vinegar based beverage without the harsh tastes of ACV and added benefits of fresh herbs and cucumber. This is achieved by a meticulous yet time-consuming infusion process that allows the ingredients to combine and form a refreshing and hydrating beverage. We are excited to have this beverage at the South Durham farmer’s market and share a piece of culture and health with all the incredible people here in the triangle.

Hello, I am the owner of Jodi’s elderberry syrup. Our elderberry syrup and many other organic elderberry products such as gummies, jam, jelly, infused honey and more are now sold at markets in and around Durham! Our 7 acre farm is nestled in the middle of regrowing woodland that is a beautiful buffer from surrounding farmland. Since 2015, our farm was Certified Organic through Quality Certification Services, QCS, but in 2024, we decided to drop our organic certification in a desire to spend less time working at the computer doing paperwork and to spend more time out in the fields working. Your family can rest assured that we still follow the practices outlined by the National Organic Program, which includes: extensive cover cropping to rebuild our soils, using only GMO-free seeds, planting beneficial insect attracting flowers and herbs around the farm, and the use of all-natural products, only when it’s a necessity, to ensure proper environmental health and farmer health.

The Spicy Hermit is a one-woman operation (with help from generous friends and community) owned and managed by Eunice Chang. Inspired to make kimchi by watching her halmoni, or grandmother, she crafts traditional and seasonal kimchi using fresh produce from local farms and time-honored fermentation methods. What is kimchi? Simply put, kimchi is a delicious product resulting from seemingly magical alchemy of vegetables and spices. All kimchi from The Spicy Hermit is raw, gluten-free, and vegan, and manufactured at each produce’s seasonal peak. The Spicy Hermit’s mission is to preserve local produce through the seasons while still maintaining and enhancing their natural nutritious qualities.
In addition to the traditional napa cabbage, The Spicy Hermit offers other seasonal flavors such as green cabbage and carrot, slightly sweet radish, mustardy turnip, smoky collard greens and a unique butternut squash. Kimchi makes for a wonderful side dish (like pickles) in addition to being a highly flavorful seasoning for many dips and sauces.
